Getting Started with SuperBill (As a Patient)

A walkthrough of how to sign up and start submitting superbills and tracking claims in our online portal.

Getting started with SuperBill is easy! But it does take a few steps. Just to make sure everyone’s on the same page, we drafted this step-by-step walkthrough to simplify the process.

Note: This is the walkthrough for patients joining SuperBill. If you’re a provider, check out our For Providers version of this post

Step 1: Sign Up

From the SuperBill homepage, click the purple Get Started! button.

It should take you to a screen with a Welcome to SuperBill message and a form like the one below.

If your form looks different, you’re probably on the For Providers sign up page. No problem, just click “I’m a patient!” in the top right corner of your screen.

After you enter your information, click Sign Up, and you’re ready to use the site!

Step 2 (Optional): Verify Benefits

After signing up, you’ll see a page with buttons like these.

Let’s talk about the button on the right: Verify Benefits

Feel free to skip this step if you’re already familiar with your insurance plan’s benefits. However, although it’s not required, many patients like to verify their benefits before uploading any bills. It lets you know what kinds of services are covered under your insurance plan, so it’s a great way to get organized and be prepared before you visit an out-of-network provider.

If it’s your first time on the site, you’ll have to add your personal and insurance info. Just click Add Patient and fill in the short form there.

If your provider is uploading bills on your behalf, you can enter their info with the Add Provider button after you enter yours.

Once your patient info is added, our team will review your benefits and send you an email when we’re finished (within 48 hours). After that, you’ll be able to see your benefits at any time by clicking the Verify Benefits button.

Step 3: File a Claim

The button you or your provider will likely be using the most is the File a Claim button.

If you or your provider have not yet purchased a subscription, you will be prompted to select a plan. Once you’ve done that, select the patient for whom you’d like to file a claim from the dropdown menu.

To upload medical bills, click the Upload button and select a file from your computer, or drag and drop a PDF of your superbill(s) into the window. Lastly, click the checkbox to acknowledge the terms, allowing SuperBill to file claims to your insurance.

That’s it! You’re off to the races! From here, SuperBill will use your bills to create and file a claim on your behalf. We’ll also negotiate with your insurer, correct any errors they report, and refile your claim(s) until we get you the best reimbursement possible. If you have any questions or concerns, we’re available around-the-clock with 24/7 concierge support.

So sit back, relax, and wait for your check! In the meantime, you can track the status of your claim(s) with the Track Claims button.

Step 4 (Optional): Track Claims

The last button is super simple. Once you’ve filed a claim, you can view it in the claims tracker. You’ll see the date the claim was filed, as well as a status column telling you what phase of processing it’s in.

Aaaaaaaaaand, that’s all folks. Welcome to SuperBill! We can’t wait to save you time and money! Upload those bills ASAP, so we can get right on it. 🦸
